Arthur Townsend was born 13 September 1868 in Brampton, Derbyshire, England, to William Townsend and Emma Ruth Marsden. He married Lovenia Harker on 28 December 1893 and the couple had four children. He served a mission for The Children of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to England. Arthur Townsend died on 28 August 1950 in Murray, Utah.
